We Celebrate Our Own for National Garbage Man Day

We Celebrate Our Own for National Garbage Man Day

National Garbage Man Day

Like most people you've probably never really stopped and thought about all of the people that work hard behind the scenes to remove your waste and recycling from your home or business every week. You simply put your waste and recycling toter out on the curb, you throw your cardboard in your compactor, or throw your compost in the bin, then like magic the next day "poof" it’s gone. It’s not magic, its hardworking men and women, that many times go unappreciated. We're talking about your Garbage Man!

It might not be the most glamorous job, but it's definitely a necessary one. We are proud to have so many wonderful sanitation drivers and helpers working for us here at Action, many whom have been in the industry for numerous years.

So to kick off the weeklong celebration we highlight a few of the garbage men we have working for us.

Each year on April 22 we celebrate the anniversary of an environmental movement that began over 45 years ago.

History of Earth Day

The idea for a national day to focus on the environment came to Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.
