This past Wednesday our CEO Ron Bergamini was asked to speak on the panel for the Crain's New York Business of Garbage event with other industry leaders such as NYC Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia, Chaz Miller the NWRA Director and Tom Outerbridge Sims Municipal Recycling GM.
Moderator Erik Engquist, Assistant Managing Editor at Crain's New York Business did an excellent job of asking the group thought-provoking questions relating to the waste management industry in New York City.
Topics from the Mayors Zero Waste Challenge to the city's food waste problem were discussed in depth. All parties were in agreement with Ron when he mentioned how even with the logistical challenges we face trying to service such a busy city the key focus should always be on safety. The safety of employees and the safety of our community.
Overall this event offered the public a chance to pull back the curtain and see just how challenging the waste management business can be in a highly dense city like NYC. We were thrilled to be invited to participate in such an open and impressive forum.
