Job Title:           Routeware Systems Technician

Job Description:

Will provide the first line of support to the onboard computer systems, known as Routeware, and all related hardware. Assist with all problems via phone, email, remote support, site visits, or along the driver’s route. The position is based on a 40 hour work week but may be altered at management’s discretion. Key goals of the position are the following:

  • Install the Routeware tablet, and interface all components with the systems on the vehicles, including the in-cab video cameras
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support inquiries and adhere to all service management principles
  • Take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues
  • Skill to disassemble vehicle interiors without damaging the vehicle or the interior components or where to locate information if disassembly procedure is unknown or not evident
  • Identify component failures quickly, and replace as necessary
  • Properly choosing and running wires, cables and harness assemblies throughout the vehicle (including into the engine compartment, trunk/hatch and doors) with a competency to execute safe and serviceable methods in observing current capacity, weather proofing, passage of wire through metal, wiring alongside existing vehicle wiring, and where wiring passes near any moving parts
  • Knowledge of various commercially available installation accessories such as wiring harnesses, high current power/ground wiring, circuit protection devices, etc.
  • General knowledge and familiarity of the appropriate application of various fasteners for equipment mounting and those encountered during removal interior panels with regard to the original integrity of the vehicle and subsequent installation
  • Install Bluetooth hands-free cellular devices or modules, or wireless audio streaming devices or modules with driver safety as a priority, and in a way that maintains standard vehicle operation and safety features. Hands-free devices should be installed in compliance with all local and Federal laws, as well as in compliance with CEA recommended practices

Skills Qualifications:

  • Three years (3) professional experience is necessary and is expected by most employers
  • Training at an installation related school or program is a plus
  • Should have a strong knowledge of PC’s, USB peripherals, Bluetooth, Serial (RS-232), Cellular Data, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Available to work overtime as needed

The Sales Representative maintains and generates revenue in the retention of current customers and by expanding Action Environmental’s customer base.   • Manage existing business relationships in order to achieve sales goals by developing and implementing sound retention strategies, utilizing strong negotiation efforts to preserve business, and secure contract agreements
  • Responsible to save and secure all customer cancellation requests by providing ongoing education of contract details to customers
  • Reduce lost accounts by diffusing cancellation requests
  • Increase revenue and profitability by executing efficient plans on retention calls to improve the customer’s service and/or profitability
  • Actively track accounts that have moved or closed to include follow-ups in order to retain service
  • Prepare sales proposals and make recommendations on equipment as seen fit
  • Update and secure customer service agreements and ensure that customers have current signed written agreements on file
  • Respond to all increases and decreases in service, change of ownership and other miscellaneous service changes that affect revenue
  • Perform outbound customer relationship calls to existing customers to improve customer profitability through a perpetual pricing program as required
  • Perform outbound collection calls as required

Diesel Mechanic - NY/NJ Locations

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: New York and New Jersey Depot Locations

Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description:

  • Experience in Refuse Truck Repair and Hydraulic System.
  • In this position you will be responsible, but not limited to routine and preventative maintenance.Diagnose mechanical problems on suspensions, brake systems, hydraulic systems, tires and wheels.Perform repairs and maintenance on alternative fuel, diesel and/or gasoline trucks.Overhaul gas or diesel engines.Assess structural damages and repairs.Perform overhauls on gas and diesel engines.
  • Diagnose issues and make repairs using service manuals.Read and interpret VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders.Make emergency road calls.Test vehicles to troubleshoot and/or test repairs to ensure completion
  • Candidate must have the skill to diagnose the source of problems quickly and accuratelyand possess good problem solving skills. You must have own tools and will be required to perform preventative maintenance inspections, tune-ups, lubrications, welding, and all other service shop activities. The ideal candidate must be reliable and willing to work 6-days per/week with overtime pay.
  • Must be fluent in English and have the ability to read and comprehend instruction manuals, interpret diagnostic charts for purpose of learning to troubleshoot and analyze repair of a mechanical or electrical nature.

Skills Qualifications:

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States and of 21-years of age or older
  • Minimum 2 years and extensive knowledge of diesel engines, repairs and service
  • Valid Driver’s License is required. CDL License a plus, but not required
  • Class A or B Diesel Mechanic with refuse experience a must
  • Working knowledge of air brakes, air brake systems and brake adjustments
  • Perform DOT inspections on trucks and experience with injectors, starters and turbos
  • Diesel Mechanic must have ability to diagnose and repair all electrical systems on trucks
  • Diesel Mechanic will complete routine replacements, will make best value and safety decisions to continue to operate, repair or replace, and then performs technical repairs and/or replacement.

Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug screen, background and motor vehicle records check and the Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical.

Truck Drivers - Roll Off (NY/NJ Locations)

Our Roll-Off drivers are responsible for the hauling of construction debris typically from large high volume construction sites. The driver is responsible for performing assigned duties on container delivery and hauling of industrial roll-off routes. This physically strenuous position involves mounting and dismounting a heavy-duty truck numerous times each day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location.

  • Routes may require Drivers to navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations. Backing skills are essential as a large percentage of the time spent servicing customers is done in reverse. Our drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts and at times need to climb on to the truck containers to smooth loads or secure tarps for transport.
  • In addition, the position involves lifting (up to 50 - 75 pounds), pushing, pulling, and bending. Our drivers, who have safe driving records, also communicate professionally with customers and dispatch at all times, and comply with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and with Company policies.
  • Required work hours may be up to the legal limits allowed and may require weekend and/or holiday work. Work hours will vary by route. Drivers must be able to read and understand a map, complete daily driver logs as well as pre and post trip truck inspections. This position will require you to work in all weather extremes including extreme hot or cold, wet or dry conditions.

Qualifications

Truck Drivers - Packer (NY/NJ Locations)

JOB DESRCIPTION
At Action Environmental Services our Commercial Drivers operate rear load trucks to service commercial routes removing and transporting waste or recyclables in fulfillment of customer contracts. This position will service approximately 200 to 500 commercial customers per day according to the assigned routes. The waste will then need to be transferred to the appropriate station, landfill or drop-off location.

Helper

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description:

  • The basic responsibility of the position is, but not limited to collecting, hand loading and moving of refuse from customer locations in a timely and safe manner, and to assist the driver while maneuvering into positions for collection and disposal.
  • The position is required to assist in the daily clean-up of the vehicle. The employee must be able to learn a route. The employee in this position needs to be a team player and is required to follow directions by the driver.
  • Unless designated by the company as a CDL Helper, Helpers are not permitted to operate a company vehicle at any time.
  • Ultimately the position reports to the Operations manager. However, the position is also subject to supervision by route supervisors and dispatchers.

Skills Qualifications:

  • The employee must constantly lift, push, and pull waste bags and receptacles that weigh approximately 50 to 75 pounds as part of their daily routine. Often, these waste receptacles have no wheels or handles for maneuverability, and the employees must have the physical strength to adjust accordingly.
  • This physically strenuous position involves mounting and dismounting the truck.
  • Employees must attend all required operational meetings, to include mandatory monthly Safety Meetings. The employee must be aware of and follow all Company policies.

Sorter/Pickers/Handlers

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description:

  • These positions are hourly paid, based on a minimum 40 hour work week as defined by management, and may be changed at management’s discretion.
  • The position will require you to possibly work a 24/7 rotating shift, which includes weekends, holidays and overtime as required.
  • The position reports directly to the Plant Supervisor or Site Manager of the facility.

Skills Qualifications:

  • Sorters are responsible for ensuring proper placement, separation and sorting of different recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper, plastic etc. on the conveyor line so that outbound recycling materials are separated properly according to grades.
  • As a Material Handler, you will be unloading and processing refuse materials for sorting and separation into recyclable products.
  • You must be capable of working in an environment where teamwork and cooperation is fostered at all times.
  • You will assist in ensuring the operations floor is clear of obstacles as you perform general housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Work with other plant personnel to ensure the facility is operated and maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Employees must have the ability to regularly lift 25 pounds, occasionally lift/move 50 pounds.
  • The work environment can be very demanding as you may have to stand, bend or stoop for extended periods of time and have above average physical agility and dexterity.
  • Employees will receive gloves, goggles and all necessities to sort and separate materials and comply with proper safety policies and procedures as required.
  •  Employees must attend all required operational meetings, to include mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
  • The employee must be aware of and follow all Company policies.
